1. Add small treats or appropriately sized dry kibble to Smarty Paws™.
2. Place the ball on the floor and encourage your dog to sniff and investigate.
3. Let them nudge, roll and chase the ball to discover how the treats are released.
4. When introducing it for the first time, make things easy so your dog quickly understands that moving the ball leads to a reward.
5. Once they've mastered it, let them work it out independently.
6. Empty any remaining food and clean after use.

Try filling Smarty Paws™ with some of your dog's normal daily kibble allowance instead of always adding extra treats. They get all the fun and mental stimulation of the game without unnecessarily adding extra calories to their day. If your dog hasn't used a treat-dispensing toy before, start with treats that come out easily. Once they understand the game, you can make playtime more challenging.
